Most macro photographers that photograph subjects in their home have set up some kind of photo studio. Maybe a small light tent, artificial lighting, and various backgrounds.

My home studio is my foyer stairway.  Why the stairway, because the stairway has a two-story high ceiling with a very large window on the second level that floods the stairway with beautiful natural light.  It seems to wrap the light around my subjects.

I obviously don't want stairs as my backgrounds, so I have lots of printed background and shoot with the natural lighting, so no need for artificial lights.
